Hotel description

Set in a traditional part of Edinburgh, with many fine examples of Victorian architecture surrounding the area, this small family-run guest house occupies a great position to reach the city’s main attractions. Set in the Tollcross area of the city, the house is within easy reach of Edinburgh’s main attractions, including the castle, theatres and fantastic shopping. Also, behind the house you can find Union Canal, which boasts beautiful walks and waterside restaurants. A late Victorian house, fully refurbished to provide all modern comforts, Balmore has maintained many of its original period features, including a wrought iron staircase, chandeliers and ornate cornices.

If you would prefer a very modern room, please ask for Bowmore, Balmore's neighbouring property, which has been refurbished with oak wooden floors, simple decoration and modern furniture and again all en suite.

Comments

Balmore House is strictly non-smoking in all areas. It is appreciated that between 22:00 at night and 08:00 in the morning that noise is kept to a minimum, if you need to come in after this time, common courtesy is required (i.e no banging of doors or loud conversations). Only guests checked into the guest house may sleep there; no overnight guests are permitted. A certain amount of time is required to clean rooms and this must be done between 10:00 and 15:00. Rooms must be empty when being cleaned. Please be advised that in order to use Internet the guests must have their own computers.

Food & Beverage

Breakfast is served in the lovely conservatory. Bright and welcoming, even on the dullest days, here you can enjoy a good selection of cooked breakfasts. Toast and cereals are also available.
